Dunder Mifflin Morphs Into Real-Life Brand - WSJ.com

The struggles of fictional paper company Dunder Mifflin to compete with real-life office-supply chains like Staples Inc. are a running joke on NBC’s “The Office.” Now, an online outlet owned by Staples is using the Dunder Mifflin name to try to sell more copy paper.

Staples’ Quill.com has struck a licensing deal with NBC’s parent company to launch a Dunder Mifflin brand. Priced largely above private-label copy paper, the Dunder Mifflin packages will be emblazoned with slogans such as “Our motto is, ‘Quabity First’ ” and “Get Your Scrant on,” well-known phrases from the comedy series.

Tumblr FAUXGO: “A fauxgo (fake logo) is a symbol or other small design created to represent a fictional company that exists only on film. “

Fauxgo is a very cool Tumblr blog from graphic designer Tymn Arnstrong.  If you like minimalist design, definitely check out his site.
Special thanks to Rob Walker for the suggestion.

Cocaine Anonymous vs. Cabo Air

Text

CA vs CA

Jackie Brown

My dear friend Justine Gabbana recently pointed out the striking similarity between the Cocaine Anonymous logo (left) and the Cabo Air logo (right) seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown.  For anyone that hasn’t seen the film, Jackie Brown has a shitty, low-paying job as a flight attendant for the fictional Cabo Air.  Her job allows her to smuggle money for known gunrunner and drug dealer, Ordell Robbie.

It’s pretty much a coke-centric movie and Justine and I were surprised to find that nobody (at least on the Internet) has made the connection between the two logos.  Everything in Tarantino’s films hold some sort of significance or meaning and there’s no way the similarities are just a coincidence.

This was an absolutely brilliant find!!  Thank you Justine!!  Give her a follow, she’s hysterically funny.
